For the fifth year the
Wetland Health Assessment Toolbox (WHAT) program will train volunteers
to monitor the health of local salt marshes. You can get outdoors
and get involved by gathering field data about fish, birds, macroinvertebrates,
vegetation, salinity and/or tidal influence. Volunteers are trained
in the field and collect important data about salt marshes on the
North Shore.
As a volunteer you will:
· Gain valuable field experience
in a variety of wetlands assessment parameters.
· Learn the valuable role salt marshes
play in the shoreline ecosystem.
· Take an active role in the protection
of wetlands.
