WANTED
MARINE INTRODUCED SPECIES MONITORING COORDINATOR

Primary Responsibilities:
• Assist in recruitment and training of volunteers for MIS Monitoring Program
• Supervise volunteer teams monitoring tidepools, rocky shoreline and floating docks
• Manage the data collected and its distribution
• Assist in the development of an underwater ID placard and recording sheet for SCUBA divers
• Participate in research activities on distribution of invasive crabs with McGill University (Hempigrapsus sanguineus & Carcinus maenas)

Supervision: Reports directly to the SSCW Executive Director

Position Period: mid May 2006 – end of August or September 2006
(some flexibility with start and end dates)

Time Requirement: Part-Time, Flexible hours. Approximately 20 hours/week.

Position Type: Seasonal/Temporary, Internship

Salary/Wage: Commensurate with experience and marine invertebrate knowledge

Qualifications:
Helpful to have a working knowledge of marine invertebrates, marine ecosystems and coastal issues, and possess basic field research skills. SSCW is seeking someone who is organized, flexible, works well both independently and as a member of a team, possesses a solid work ethic, and has excellent communication skills. Solid computer skills (MS Excel and MS Access) and experience conducting scientific field research/sampling are a must. Applicant should also have access to a car for personal travel to field study sites, located within the Salem Sound Watershed and Cape Ann.
