Coastal 5K Run

Run for the Beach 2010

Thanks to all for a great 2nd
Annual Run for the Beach

Salem Sound Coastwatch was the beneficiary of the Coastal 5K Run for the Beach! held on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Lynch Park, Beverly. Tay Evans and Jill Weber, both marine biologists at the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, organized the event. Over 160 runners were treated to beautiful ocean views, great weather and a green road race (no bottled water; everything recycled or composted).

All proceeds from this 5K roadrace support Salem Sound Coastwatch's"Adopt a Beach" Program, which recruits and trains devoted beach keepers to do year-round coastal clean-ups and pollution monitoring.

This event was widely supported by the community—the City of Beverly, local businesses and many volunteers came together to make it a great success. We extend our thanks to the Beverly Department of Recreation for providing the site and to the Beverly Police for their help in making the race run smoothly. We greatly appreciate the support of our sponsors:
